27 September 2024 - Paringa to Curlwaa (3 Australian States in one day!)

Up betimes with no particular plan in mind other than to ensure that we departed the very un-welcoming State of South Australia as soon as possible!

Decided to head for the town of Wentworth in NSW which is quite near Mildura in Victoria. The two towns are more or less on opposite sides of the mighty Murray River but Wentworth can (and does) boast that it stands at the junction of the Darling River with the mighty Murray River.
The historic Abbotsford Bridge at Curlwaa
(There is no truth in the story that the famous Tasmanian barrister, Andrew Abbott SC was the first person to ford the Murray River near this location in 1981.)

Citizens relaxing on the banks of the mighty Murray River.

As a result of recent floods in the area the principal caravan park at Wentworth is closed so we were obliged to repair to the nearby Curlwaa Caravan Park. We arrived in the early afternoon which was just as well as many other campers also made their way to the same location. I guess that every cloud has a silver lining- as the saying goes!

The Tadpole fully deployed and bathed in the Curlwaa sunlight.

An ideal opportunity for Mrs P to consume a refreshing lager and a light snack. Life on the mighty Murray River does not get much better than this!

Yet another view of the mighty Murray River.
